MEET THE BANDS

The New Horizons Band of Colorado Springs (NHBCOS) is under the direction of Ed Nuccio with his wife, Mary Nuccio as the administrator. All of our bands rehearse at First Evangelical Free Church and Canon School.

Please be sure to check our Schedule for starting dates and times.

The list of bands includes:

bullet Beginner Day Band -- is designed for those who have never played any type of musical instrument. You need no prior experience whatsoever. All you need is the desire and a reasonable amount of time to practice. This is part of the essence of the New Horizons Band program. This band usually meets Monday and Wednesday mornings.

bullet Night Beginner Band -- much like the Beginning Day Band mentioned above, you need no prior musical knowledge. Fundamentals are stressed and we will even help you decide which instrument is best suited for your unique physical characteristics. This band meets on Thursday evenings.

bullet Night Intermediate Band -- This band currently has 30 to 40 members and is rapidly growing with a very representative instrumentation. It is designed for those unable to attend rehearsals during the daytime hours. Joyce Hanagan directs this band and Night Beginner Band which both meet on Thursday evenings.

bullet Concert Band -- this is our most advanced daytime band (intermediate level). We usually have between 45 and 50 members with a nicely balanced instrumentation. This band meets Monday and Wednesday mornings.

bullet Symphonic Band -- This band is our top organization and numbers between 75 and 80 members. Because this is our more advanced group, auditions are required. This band also meet on Thursday evenings.

bullet Kicks Band -- This band is our 16-piece jazz band. A prerequisite for membership in this band is membership in the Symphonic Band and is by audition only. This band meets on Monday nights.

bullet 18-39 BAND -- We are in the throes of forming a group for the forgotten '18 to 39 Musicians'. Numerous requests for us to allow them in the groups intended for the 40-and-over crowd and this helped to spawn the idea for still another band. At this point we are searching for enough interested young people. If you are interested, please visit NHBCOS Music website for contact information.

If you have any questions about any of these bands, please feel free to email Ed Nuccio or
Mary Nuccio or phone them at 719-634-2463.
